Severn River Water Trends

Oxygen Levels

Dissolved oxygen is the amount of oxygen in the water. It is necessary for aquatic organisms as animals such as fish and shellfish to have adequate amounts of oxygen in the waterways. If the dissovled oxygen levels are too low, the aquatic organisms will either swim away or suffocate. The amount of oxygen does not impact humans, however, low levels of dissolved oxygen can signify further problems in the aquatic ecosystem which can potentially be hazardous to humans.
